First, there were being speakeasies. Then there have been new-faculty speakeasies. Now, New York Town has subway speakeasies—and, remarkably, they are truly very fun. If you ignore the fact that it is situated in the 1 train’s 28th Road station (with an entrance on avenue level), La Noxe generally just feels like a cool, casual lounge. It is a small, dark home with 6 barstools and a couple tables, and it’s filled with rugs and velvet home furniture. The playlist is mellow, the cocktails are exciting, and, with its crimson lights and stacks of vinyl, the full area has a vaguely retro really feel. If you can snag a reservation, this is a good location for a lower-vital consume with a few of close friends. After 10:30pm, the place turns into a walk-in-only party, so stop by then if you want to dance.
